procrastination is opportunity's natural assassin

I know. my website is hurt. It’s disjointed, boring, and the only purpose it serves is to give my resume a home. Well, me and your mother(hiyoo!) talked about it, and decided its time for something new. We’re gonna give you the keys to the car. Now wait, your curfew is still the same so don’t get too excited. And it’s going to be atleast a couple weeks before it gets those side flames put on, but you can wait that long right? NO CHOICE

someday soon…blog, motion, non motion, sketches, ideas, awesome. all in one place

I had the honor of creating Save the Date mailers for a buddy’s wedding recently. I dont know his other half too well so I gave them a few options. He sounds pretty lucky because she chose the coolest one.

We did however change that chicken to a goat. go figure. i still like the chicken

"It's only work if somebody makes you do it"

Oh the joys of being self-employed, how little I knew of ye. Ye? yee? I dont care. Since going freelance, I think I actually work more hours then I did when I was working for someone else. Granted, those hours are sometimes sprinkled throughout the day and night, but they are there. Oh yes, they are there. I have so many cool things to post! but most are not completed yet so maybe rushing to the internet isn’t the best plan of action.

This right here is a piece of a piece i did for some homepieces. I know that last part doesn’t work. shut up. click to biggen

Costanza’s not the only hand model up in this piece. Buy this crazy thing here

heres a character design I was playing with for a commercial in the works

fortunately/unfortunately, we ended up going in a different direction. I was sad to see him go so I will most likely use him in something down the line. I’ve played with a few names for him, comment with some options and you just may win the prize..of..naming?

Also here are some random sketches done while rendering some animation for super secret tv project alpha zero. sounds intriguing doesn’t it. mmNOT YET!

oh also that reel is still kickin. kick it.

ditched Burlington for a few days, weeks, who knows, to do some work in NY. hopefully ill have a few spare moments here and there to wrap up my new reel for 09. you know, for the children.

in the mean time, im having an art overload walking around this city. its exactly what i was hoping for. Hopefully i’ll get a flickr set poppin with all the street art ive been seeing and who knows, maybe even throwdown myself.

2009 Ar Thop

As my time at Select Design came to a tumultuous end (1270 SATs indeed), I ‘technically’ finished on a good note. This year’s art hop revolved around my obsession with custom designed little dudes and everybody got down and rocked it. I also got to meet tons of other artists and hopefully made some connections that will result in collaborative work in the near future.

I had planned on cutting a video but sometimes these things dont work out the way you think they will, however, i did document a bit of the process as well as take a few horrible pictures during the event.

alot more pictures but sketchdump is not the place for these shenanigans

‘nother big update later today

Happiness isn't good enough for me! I demand euphoria!

Ahhh, sweet vacation. why do you hurt so good? besides waking up at the crack of noon after wild, absinthe soaked, wake up miles away from your home in a field with galoshes 6 sizes too big for you nights, its been pretty low key. Seriously. I mean, I don’t even think any of that stuff even happened. all ive been doing is art, art and some boring rendering in between. yeah i know, that sounds great and all but where are the pictures.

couple more things to render out and this bad jackson is DONE. cant wait to get this out there

in other awesome,

i stopped by my favorite comedian Brian Regan’s website yesterday, and lo and behold, all my stuff is on his front page. Now if you’re in to that sort of thing, keep an eye out, ive got another line of stuff coming out for him in the next month or so. i know. comedy nerg-gasm.

In other, OTHER, awesome, me and scott went down to Simon Pearce to shoot a quick little project evolution vid for Select. Gotta respect anyone who starts work at 6am in a 6000 degree oven blowing glass all day.

hopefully this’ll be cut in the next week or so, but knowing the bat-shit crazy pace of select, it might be a little longer

The weekend ends here

Nothing like a weekend chock full of personal art projects to make you wish you could turn your phone off and disappear for a week. This weekend, and also spilling in to this week, another designer and I had a photoshop battle of epic proportions over the web. 5 rounds of back and forth over one file. its not quite over but the results so far are pretty much made of awesome. ill post them all on friday hopefully.

as for life outside the internet..

Here’s a test render of the camera guy keychain i was working on. i think it ended up coming out pretty awesome

heres another project i really enjoyed working on, i got to design some simple hangtags for some special Whole Foods hats made from recycled plastic bottles. too bad i ended up having to cut them all myself. totally worth it though

i cannot wait to post the contest results. it has proven to be one of the funnest things ive done in a while (well..art-related) and has pushed my design and illlustration speed. i think thats a good thing?
